Biden and Makhon want to engage China in a quick end to the war in Ukraine
"The
two leaders expressed their desire to speed up the process of ending the war in
Ukraine by engaging China and establishing a lasting peace in the region,"
Makhon's office said in a statement.
French
President Emmanuel Macron is visiting China. He spoke to US President Joe Biden
on the phone before the visit. In a phone conversation, the two leaders
discussed and agreed to engage China in the process of ending the war in
Ukraine quickly.
The news
agency Reuters reported this information with reference to the French
President's office.
"The
two leaders expressed their desire to speed up the process of ending the war in
Ukraine by engaging China and establishing a lasting peace in the region,"
Makhon's office said in a statement.
The French
president's office also said that both Biden and Machon hope that China will
contribute more to the global coordination process on climate and biodiversity
and determine their own actions in this regard. However, Makhn's office did not
provide any information on this matter.
The French
leader will visit China from Wednesday to Friday. Makhone will discuss
bilateral relations with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of China confirmed this information.
The Biden
administration has already announced a decision to increase arms aid to
Ukraine. The United States pledged $2.6 billion in military aid in an
announcement Tuesday. These include 3 air strike surveillance radars, anti-tank
missiles and oil tankers. Through this, the United States has provided $35
billion in military aid since the start of Russia's special military operation
in Ukraine.
